Deleted paragraphs

So, these are a few deleted paragraphs about the Master's two other fears, cut because of pacing. Maybe I'll use the ideas again somewhere later, but for now they are here if anyone particularly cares to read them.

~

"The first was the deep rooted fear the Master had of death. When they'd been sixteen, Theta managed to get his hands on the blue prints to a primitive form of time travel some alien race had created to manipulate the vortex. Primitive, but working and it was enough to give them a rudimentary knowledge of how to build their own long before they were allowed to do so.

They'd spent endless nights working on making one. It was Koschei who finally got it working and he hadn't waited for Theta to get back from tutoring to test it. He'd simply pressed the button and ended up in the middle of the bloodiest battle of the first Yestradi civil war.

Theta had raised the alarm when he saw that Koschei was still missing by the end of the day. Koschei had to be brought back by an emissary of the High Council and they'd both gotten a very thorough scolding and punishment for it. All of that had been worth it to get a glimpse of the outside world though, or so Theta had thought. His excited questions about the outside world had all been hushed though when he saw the look in Koschei's eyes. He'd come back from that battlefield changed and Theta could only hold his friend tightly as he haltingly described the horror of the aliens who couldn't regenerate.

The drums were the other taboo subject. Koschei had been told by the Dean of the academy to never mention them to anyone and the fear of being different and diseased had eaten away at Koschei until he was twenty-three. That was when he'd had a major break down and Theta had been the one to find him. Koschei nearly had to beg Theta to not angrily march up to the Dean's office after he found out and demand they find a solution to the problem instead of just pretending it didn't exist. It was for Koschei's pride that Theta didn't mention it after that, but it didn't stop him from raging against those old fools silently. Theta had once again held Koschei protectively, promising to help with the drums in any way he could and that Koschei wasn't diseased because of it. If only Theta had known what the Doctor knew now."
